I was a reporter and feature writer for The Windsor Star for 34 years.. Much of that time I covered arts and entertainment, writing music, theatre, fine arts and television reviews, and doing feature interviews in all areas of the arts. I also helped create and wrote a pair of regular columns — Artbeat, a survey of news about the arts; and Bandwagon, a feature dedicated to the regional music scene.
I was the classical music reviewer and feature writer for the Windsor Symphony Orchestra for 15 years during the tenures of three different music directors. I also reviewed scores of concerts in Windsor and Detroit, covering all styles of music, from classical to jazz and pop. I was the principal critic and feature writer for the local theatre scene, both professional and amateur.
Part of my ongoing coverage included writing about the launch of both Bookfest Windsor and the Windsor International Film Festival. I frequently attended the Stratford Festival, writing features and reviews. During the 1990s, I took several interview trips to Los Angeles and Toronto in advance of the fall television seasons.
I retired in the spring of 2015, but still maintain close connections to the arts scene.
